Swimming Pools at the New York-New York Las Vegas

The pools at New York-New York are a fun way to relax at the resort. The New York-New York pool strikes a balance between homey and upscale. While the in-pool fountain is a trendy touch, the volleyball net stringing across the narrow point of the pool gives off a backyard pool party vibe that everyone can enjoy. All of this is placed in the middle of New York-New York’s signature cityfront replicas, keeping the theme intact even at the pool.  The plush lounge chairs are an excellent way to catch some sun, and come with complimentary beverages and towel service. For added space, the pool cabanas come equipped with the standard extras for any poolside experience, such as couches, refrigerators and safes for keeping valuables protected. Three Jacuzzis line the perimeter of the deck as well, to enjoy during the pool’s seasonal opening months. Watch the riders on the Big Apple coaster from the water for a unique view inside the pool complex. If possible, plop down into one of the submerged chairs to keep cool in the Vegas heat while you people watch in comfort. Walk through the New-York-New-York casino to access the pool, and enjoy the bustling fun that is not unlike the city itself.

About New York-New York

The resort on the center of the Strip honors the city that never sleeps with ⅓ replicas of the Brooklyn Bridge and Statue of Liberty, along with other famous landmarks. The hotel rooms are disguised from the outside, appearing as NYC buildings. The cluster of replica buildings depict the Empire State Building, Liberty Plaza, New Yorker Hotel, Chrysler Building and eight others. They’ve taken creative liberties with the skyline and added a roller coaster, because why not? It is the Las Vegas Strip, after all.

The Hotel

There is so much to enjoy at New York-New York. Each room is decorated in warm, brown tones with nature-influenced decor. If you’re able to get a room on the hotel’s upper floors, you’ll have a great view of Las Vegas. You can close the blackout curtains or enjoy the scenery, whether it’s the mountains in the distance, a gorgeous shot of the city, or the spacious pool.

Rooms And Suites

The rooms at the New York-New York are a great bargain, especially considering the hotel’s central location. Here, guests can relax and unwind without spending a fortune.

The design is simple yet elegant, which is fitting since the hotel advertises its rooms as “no-nonsense.” In the Park Avenue rooms, the decor and bathrooms have an old-school feel, while the more exclusive rooms have private hot tubs and more up-to-date facilities. You could choose to stay in one of the budget-friendly 350 square-feet Park Avenue rooms or splurge and book the massive 1100 square-feet Penthouse Suite.

Stay Well and Dog-Friendly

If you’d like to stay in an extra-soothing space, New York-New York has specially-designed rooms for maximum comfort. Its Fresh by Stay Well rooms have aromatherapy, infusers in the shower heads to reduce chlorine, digital sleep and wellness resources and more.

New York-New York also makes an effort to accommodate each of their guests, no matter whether they’re human or canine. Guests who have traveled with their dogs will be pleased to know that the hotel offers dog-friendly rooms for a fee. As an added perk, they also have “Doggie Butler Services.” These paid services include check-ins and dog sitting, along with a box with treats and toys.

Staff members are friendly when dealing with guests’ concerns. Usually, when a guest calls down to the front desk and mentions an issue with their room, the staff will provide a solution. The staff also enforces a guests-only policy on the hotel floors. Because of this, one member of your party must present proof of your booking to a security guard before entering the hotel area.

Meeting Spaces

For a special occasion, consider reserving a cabana. Each cabana is outfitted with four lounge chairs, a couch, a flat-screen television with a premium sports package, misting service and more.

Parking

Like all MGM properties, parking is a paid service at New York-New York. Short-term visitors can pay by presenting their parking ticket at the garage kiosk

Rewards Program

MGM Resorts International’s M Life Rewards program is a loyalty program that offers benefits at all 10 MGM-owned casino properties in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Mlife Rewards program contains two levels: M Life Rewards and M Life Rewards MasterCard.

M Life Rewards Elite Status

M Life Rewards members can earn status with the Mlife Rewards program through their play and stays at MGM-owned properties. There are five tiers: Sapphire, Pearl, Gold, Platinum, and Noir.

  • You start in the Sapphire tier upon creating an account. This tier gets you mobile check-in, personalized offers and room discounts. When you create your account you also are now able to earn points that will get you comps and other things on the Strip.
  • The next tier is the Pearl tier, and you need 25,000 tier credits to reach this level. You’ll now get 10% more points earned playing slots, an extension on when your points would expire from no activity and a dedicated line at participating buffets. You also get access to all the Sapphire perks.
  • At 75,000 tier credits, you’ll now reach the Gold tier. You’ll be able to experience everything Pearl has to offer along with an increased 20% bonus on points earned playing slots and a priority hotel check-in line at the front desk.

Earning M Life Points and Tier Credits

M Life is a little confusing when it comes to earning points or redeeming them. Each game gets you different amounts of points, then that will change based on what tier level you are, and for redemptions, it depends on if you’re local or traveling to Las Vegas and they run promotions all the time to give you opportunities for more comps.

Let’s explain the two types of rewards for M Life though.

  • Base Points – this is what will earn you free plays at slots and video poker and also give you Express Comps, which can be used on hotel room charges, dining, or entertainment. There is no structure to earning or spending this as it depends on your status, where you’re located, and the promotions running at the moment.
  • Tier Credits – this determines the elite status that you have within the M Life program. You get tier credits based on your play, like base points, but also can earn tier credits when booking hotels and spending money on other non-gaming activities like dining and entertainment.

Players can track their tier levels and comps through the Mlife Rewards program online account (on the website).

The MGM Resorts properties that participate in the M Life Rewards program include Bellagio, Delano Las Vegas, Mandalay Bay, MGM Grand, The Mirage, Monte Carlo, New York-New York, Luxor, Excalibur and Circus Circus.

You can also sign in to M Life Rewards and check your status anytime to see if you have access to special room rates and offers.

High Roller Areas

The high limit area in New York-New York Casino is located on the second floor and includes 11 tables where $100+ chips can be purchased.

The room offers a classic and casual atmosphere and has high-back upholstered chairs and spacious legroom, along with modern décor. The New York City Bar uses dark mahogany finishes and leather accents to create a comfortable environment.

There is one baccarat table and five blackjack tables inside. In blackjack, the dealer stands on soft 17s which is important to know in deciding on where to play high-limit blackjack.

Casino Hosts

A casino host is someone who works at a casino and often acts as a personal concierge. Casino hosts are usually employed by the hotel in which the casino resides. They assist players with any requests they might have, such as room accommodations or restaurant reservations, while enjoying their time gambling.

New York-New York has on-site casino hosts. If a player is having any issues or has any questions, they should contact the front desk and ask to speak with a casino host.

To be eligible for a casino host, players must have an account with the casino either through Mlife Rewards or as a walk-in customer.

Credit Lines

New York-New York can offer you a credit line or a Casino Marker, as they call it. The credit line is a personal loan that you can receive from the casino to gamble with.

On average, New York-New York offers credit lines inside of $2,000-$5,000. The amount of money you are granted is based on an assessment of your earnings at the casino for two weeks before approval.

If approved, the casino might set a limit on how much money you can lose. Using a credit line is unique to New York-New York and should be used as a last resort because it allows players to wager with money that they may not necessarily have in savings or checking accounts

Rooms

New York-New York doesn’t have any dedicated rooms besides their high-limit room. This doesn’t take away from the fact of how much you can do in this casino.

Table Games

The casino has over 84,000 square feet of space to offer and over 60 table games.

Craps

Craps is a game of chance where you bet on the outcome of two dice. Each bet is unique to the shooter and has different odds, limits and payouts. Some bets are for one roll while others take multiple rolls of the dice before a winner is declared.

The goal in craps is to beat the dealer in at least one bet that they have on the table. There’s no limit to betting in this game and is usually played with up to eight players at a time.

Each player gets the chance to be the shooter and roll the dice. Based on the player’s point total, this number changes until one of two things happen. Either they establish a seven or an eleven, in which case the throw is over, and all players that wagered either get paid out or lose their wagers depending on the bets. Alternatively, they establish a point total based on the numbers two through twelve, in which case the player continues to throw the dice until they either make their point or roll a seven. Once this happens, all other players that wagered lose their bets while the player who established the point wins.

Roulette

The game of roulette is played on a wheel with 37 sections, each labeled by numbers one through 36.

There are also the options of betting on red or black, even or odd, and high or low. The dealer spins the wheel in one direction and then rolls the ball in the opposite direction. All bets are placed before this point occurs.

Once the ball comes to a stop, players that won bets are paid according to the payout table. The game ends when all of the numbers on one side have been matched up with winning bets.

The minimum bet for this game is $5 and the maximum bet is $500 on every spin.

Blackjack

Blackjack is a classic casino card game where players try to get as close as possible to 21 without going over or busting. In blackjack, there are generally three parts of the game. The first is dealt with in the shoe and is when players make their bets and receive either one card or two cards at a time. Once players have two cards in front of them, they can either hit (take another card) or stand (remain at their current total).

The game ends when either the dealer busts or the players “bust” which means that their card point total goes over 21. At that point, all bet payouts are given to the player based on the rules of blackjack.

The dealer must stand on 17 while the player can also draw until they’re satisfied with their point total.

3-Card Poker

3-Card Poker is a card game where players are dealt three cards and must make the best five-card hand possible with the two of these cards in their hands. Players can also choose to play pairs or quads in this game which has double the payouts when compared to normal 3-card poker.

Ultimate Texas Hold’em

Ultimate Texas Hold’em is a game where players are dealt two cards. From there, they must make their best five-card hand by either folding or making an additional bet on one of these cards.

After this point, three community cards are shown and the game continues until every player has either folded or made an additional wager. When three community cards are shown, players can either call or fold their cards. The last two cards are not shown until all bets have been placed.

There are a total of three betting rounds in this game which makes it one of the fastest games offered at New York-New York.
