Five Karaoke Spots That Will Make You Want to Take the Stage

Grab the mic with your friends for a lively songfest

By Melissa Gill

After jamming out to your favorite song in your car and having countless concert rehearsals in the shower, it’s time to take your singing sessions to the next level at a sweet karaoke spot near or on the Las Vegas Strip. For your next night out in Sin City, here are five karaoke venues where you’ll want to party like a rockstar with your squad.

Kamu Ultra Karaoke at The Grand Canal Shoppes

For those who prefer a private, high-end karaoke room, Kamu Ultra Karaoke at the Grand Canal Shoppes inside The Venetian has 40 private luxury suites and six VIP suites. The suites are decorated in a variety of imaginative themes including a Galaxy Suite with walls covered in glittery stars, an Aqua Suite adorned with lifelike bubbles and more. Plus, they offer bottle service and food. Kamu Ultra Karaoke is open seven days a week from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. for all ages and from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m. for ages 21 and up.

Vince Neil’s Tatuado at Circus Circus

For the rock ‘n’ rollers, Vince Neil’s Tatuado located inside Circus Circus is decked out with a classic rock aesthetic to match Mötley Crüe’s energy (Vince Neil is the band’s legendary frontman). From the walls covered in rock music memorabilia to the Hollywood red carpet colored booths, the ambiance is electric. Karaoke is seven days a week and hosted by DJ Miguel. Eat, drink and party while slamming the air guitar at this wild rock club.

Dino’s Lounge

Dino’s Lounge is a popular dive bar near The Strat that has hosted karaoke in Las Vegas for over 25 years. This offbeat lounge has karaoke nights on Thursday through Saturday starting at 10 p.m. My advice is to arrive early to get your seat because it is a small venue that fills up quickly, especially on First Fridays (A monthly festivity in the Arts District) or on busy holiday weekends. Shoot pool and indulge in Graveyard specials until it’s your turn to get the spotlight.

Don’t Tell Mama

Instead of singing to a karaoke track, why not sing along with the best piano players in town at Don’t Tell Mama? This lounge started in New York City as a cabaret and 10 years later the owners, Minh and Johanna Pham, moved it to Las Vegas, according to their website. Every night at 8 p.m. Don’t Tell Mama hosts an open mic with singing bartenders and professional piano players. The only catch is that if you sing, you don’t have a prompter to feed you the lyrics (but you can alway use your phone).

Ellis Island Casino

Although this spot is off the Strip, Ellis Island Casino is the home of one of the hottest local karaoke places in Las Vegas. It would be a disservice not to mention it. Ellis Island’s karaoke catalog has over 10,000 songs and the most interactive crowds. I have seen everyone from Elvis impersonators grace the stage to celebrities like Joey Fatone from N*Sync take the microphone at Ellis. Karaoke is nightly. Shine on stage on Sundays through Thursdays from 9 p.m. to 3 a.m. and on Fridays and Saturdays from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. Plus, this spot has a microbrewery for those who love beer and is home of the $7.99 top sirloin steak.
