The go-to guide for enjoying an out of this world date

Area15 (3215 S. Rancho Drive) is fascinating, engaging, mysterious and, yes, even romantic. The new art, retail, dining and entertainment complex is a great place to bring a date. In fact, you can spend the entire evening here. Check out all the fun stuff for couples to enjoy and plan accordingly.

First Stop: ElectroRoll

Back in your high school days, was there anything better than holding hands with your crush at the local roller rink? Relive those days with ElectroRoll, a pop-up roller-skating venue in the outdoor lot behind Area15. The retro vibe is strong with glow-in-the-dark decor, video images and classic disco music pumping in the background. A ticket includes 30 minutes of skating, but you can also hang out while enjoying food, beer and specialty cocktails.

Second Stop: Wink World

The eclectic nature of Area15 is on full display with Wink World. You and your date will walk from room to room experiencing a variety of effects in a hall-of-mirrors format. The installation was designed by Chris Wink, one of the founders of Blue Man Group. Give yourself about 20 minutes to enjoy the whole thing.

Third Stop: Dueling Axes

Find out if your game is truly on target. Book a lane at Dueling Axes and be ready to impress with your axe-throwing skills. Arrive about 15 minutes before your reservation for instruction, a review of safety protocols and extra time to place a drink order. First-timers will need a few minutes to get warmed up, but, ultimately, it’s a lot of fun and adds a rush of adrenaline to any date. Hopefully, romance will continue to blossom—and you won’t end up becoming “dueling exes” in the near future.

Fourth Stop: Gallerie 360

Unwind from all that axe throwing with some down time inside The Portal, a rectangular space that transforms into Gallerie 360 with 30-minute presentations of light, sound and 3D-projection mapping. Snuggle up on a couch, order a drink and get to know each other a little better. The Portal is also used to host special events, including game-day viewing parties and holiday celebrations.

Fifth Stop: Omega Mart by Meow Wolf

Omega Mart feels like multiple dates in one. The experiential art installation by Meow Wolf is a 52,000-square-foot space that begins inside a fantasy-like grocery store (and real-life gift shop) where the products spoof society’s reliance on commerce and convenience. But that’s only the beginning. Doors, stairs and even a pathway through a walk-in freezer lead to a factory, offices and other locations connected to the fictional company Dramcrop. Think of it as the craziest art gallery in Las Vegas.

Sixth Stop: The Beast by Todd English

Time for dinner. Reserve a seat at The Beast by Todd English and discuss all the crazy stuff you just saw at Omega Mart. Shareable plates are the best way to bond during a date. Try one of seven different pizzas, ranging from a fresh and vibrant Fig & Prosciutto to an indulgent Bronx Bomber of sausage and pepperoni. Save room for dessert, especially the Cottonmouth Cheesecake, in which chunks of red cheesecake are served alongside creamy foam, a delicate cookie and a cloud of cotton candy.

Seventh Stop: Oddwood

Round out the evening with a nightcap at Oddwood. The centralized cocktail bar is a spectacle, sitting underneath a 25-foot-tall maple tree decorated with LED leaves that flash in colorful patterns. The drink list changes regularly and includes convenient but surprisingly complex and inventive recipes. Go ahead. Have another round before calling it a night.

Reservations are encouraged, if not required, at most Area15 experiences. Book online today.
