Planet Hollywood has evolved into an eclectic and hip spot that entices visitors and locals alike. Previously on the site of the former Aladdin Hotel, the current Planet Hollywood can trace its origins to 2003 when a “new” Aladdin was going to be built with a tentative Planet Hollywood music project located behind it. They officially renamed the hotel to the current Planet Hollywood in 2007 and began renovations to alter the decor and theming, from the Desert Passage and other Aladdin motifs to a more contemporary and current vibe. Guests can step into a star-studded atmosphere, where celebrity names extend into some of the best Las Vegas restaurants and attractions. Name-brand dining establishments are sprinkled throughout the resort, like Gordon Ramsay Burger, and the classic chains are on deck as well, such as Starbucks and P.F. Changs. For entertainment, the variety within Planet Hollywood’s property is legendary. Household name Criss Angel hosts an unforgettable magic couplet of shows: “Mindfreak” and “Amystika: The Mindfreak Sequel.” Other residencies move through Zappos Theater at a rapid pace, as an exclusive hot-ticket rotation that can’t be missed. The Purple Zebra and Blue Moon Bar are colorful features of the coveted nightlife as well, after it’s time to move on from the shows—and the sportsbook and casino.

Swimming Pools at the Planet Hollywood Las Vegas

Have you ever wanted to "step out onto the scene" at a city hotspot? Now you can at The Scene, Planet Hollywood's pool deck. Two pools make up the complex at Planet Hollywood. Each pool sits on either end of the deck and overlooks the Strip from the sixth floor of the resort. This vantage point makes for some excellent Strip views. As a unique aquatic addition to the deck, Planet Hollywood features its FlowRider, a wave pool constructed on the rooftop Planet Hollywood pool deck. This is the only spot to surf on the Las Vegas Strip, as instructors walk pool guests through the whole wave experience. Kids and parent alike will love learning the ropes of surfing in the middle of the Vegas desert. Keep in mind that access to this tubular time is available in 30-minute increments, so plan out the fun during your preferred daylight hours. Shredding gnarly waves can be exhausting. Take a break in your very own cabana, or collapse on a daybed with a refreshment from one of the two poolside bars. Throw live DJs into the mix for sunshine and sounds and Planet Hollywood is ready to host your next pool session, no matter how long it lasts. Cowabunga, dudes.

History

Planet Hollywood has evolved into an eclectic and hip spot that entices visitors and locals alike.

The current incarnation of Planet Hollywood can trace its origins to 2003. It was then when a “new” Aladdin was set for construction with a tentative Planet Hollywood music project located behind it. The music project was ultimately canceled due to Aladdin Gaming’s distrust about Planet Hollywood being able to fund it.

The tables turned when Planet Hollywood purchased Aladdin, following their declaration of bankruptcy in 2001. They officially renamed the hotel to the current Planet Hollywood in 2007 and began renovations to alter the decor and theming from the Desert Passage and other Aladdin motifs to a more contemporary and current vibe. The renovations were completed in waves, while the resort remained open for business.

Financial troubles continued for the hotel and Harrah’s took control of the property in 2010, with permission from the Nevada Gaming Commission. Presently, Planet Hollywood Las Vegas is owned and operated by Caesars Entertainment.

How To Earn Caesars Rewards at Planet Hollywood

Grand entrance of the Planet Hollywood Las Vegas Resort & Casino

Caesars Rewards offers two types of rewards. Tier Credit determines your player status at the resort as Gold, Platinum, Diamond or Seven Stars. Reward credit determines how many points you have to spend at Planet Hollywood or other Caesars properties.

Earn When you Book Your Room

For every Tier Credit earned you receive one Reward Credit. Tier Credits have no dollar value and each Reward Credit equals one cent. That means you would have to accumulate 100 Reward Credits to earn $1. Hotel guests receive one Tier Credit and one Reward Credit for every $1 spent on rooms and resort fees. Reservations must be booked on the hotel’s website.

Collect Rewards While Drinking, Dining and Enjoying Shows

Earn one Tier and one Reward Credit for every $1 spent at participating Planet Hollywood Resort casino restaurants including Pin-Up Pizza and Starbucks. Accumulate credits at most of the bars on the property as well. You’ll be rewarded when you attend the Criss Angel Show or see one of the many performances at Zappos Theater.

Shop and Earn

Does your dream vacation involve a lavish shopping spree? Earn Tier and Reward Credit at many of the Miracle Mile shops. Buy anything from souvenirs and shoes to a brand new wardrobe. Miracle Mile spans over a mile and boasts more than 150 stores. Just like at the hotel and restaurants, earn one of each credit for every dollar spent.

Relax and Earn

The Planet Hollywood Las Vegas' pool during the day

Take a dip in one of Planet Hollywood’s two pools overlooking the Las Vegas Strip and watch those points multiply. Closed until spring, you’ll earn one of each type of credit for every $1 spent on sundries, drinks and other purchases at the pool. Guests can also use the fitness center, collect credits at the golf course and earn comps while unwinding at the Reflections Spa by Mandara.

More Games and Their Rewards

  • Bingo – One Reward Credit and one Tier Credit for every $10
  • Live Keno – One Reward Credit and one Tier Credit for every $3
  • Racing – One Reward Credit and one Tier Credit for every $3
  • Sports – One Reward Credit and one Tier Credit for $5 in potential profit [up to 10x original bet]
  • Caesars Online Sportsbook [available in Nevada]
  • One Reward Credit and one Tier Credit for $5 in potential profit [up to 10x original bet]

How Rewards are Calculated at Table Games

In the long run, the house keeps a certain percentage of every dollar a gambler puts into play. That’s why casino workers are happy to offer rewards to loyal gamblers. They base your comps on something called an average daily theoretical (ADT) or the average dollar amount you’re expected to lose each day. It has nothing to do with how much you actually win or lose.

To determine your ADT, the pit boss has to track your play. Usually, you have to bet an average of $25 a hand to be rated at a Las Vegas Strip casino. Your daily loss is determined by the type of games you play, your average bet and how long you stay at the table. The exact formula is a well-kept secret. In the end, the casino comes up with a dollar figure representing how much it expects to win off you each day, and comps you around 20-30% of that amount.

Reward Tiers

Image of the Planet Hollywood Hotel's casino floor

Gold Tier

Guests automatically achieve Gold Tier status when they sign up for a player’s card. Each tier includes free or discounted rooms and one free night for every 5,000 credits earned.

Platinum Tier – 5,000 Tier Credits

Reach platinum status fast when you earn 2,500 Tier Credits in one promotional day and collect a 5,000 credit bonus. Get free valet and self-parking, a 15% discount at casino gift shops and a three-night stay at Atlantis, Paradise Island.

Diamond Tier – 15,000 Tier Credits

When you earn 5000 Tier Credits in a single promotional day, you will be awarded 10,000 bonus credits and realize diamond status in one day. This includes 15% off rooms, no resort fees, a $100 dining credit and free valet and self-parking. Diamond status also comes with two free nights at Caesars Palace Dubai and a four-night stay at Atlantis, Paradise Island.

Diamond Plus – 25,000 Tier Credits

Diamond Plus comes with everything above and guarantees you a room in Las Vegas or Atlantic City with 72 hours’ notice.

Diamond Elite – 75,000 Tier Credits

Enjoy all the perks of the other tiers plus a $600 airline credit to Las Vegas.

Seven Stars Tier – 150,000 Tier Credits

Achieve Seven Stars Tier status and the benefits are tremendous. On top of everything already mentioned, upgrade to the best available room when you arrive and enjoy early check-in and late check-out. You’ll be treated to a $500 dining credit, a vacation with Norwegian Cruise Lines and a trip to one of Caesars Rewards destinations including up to $1200 for airfare and $500 for meals.

Comps and Promotions

A view of the casino floor within Planet Hollywood Las Vegas

Accumulate Comps on Gambling Machines

Players earn one Reward Credit and one Tier Credit for every $5 put through a slot machine. Put $500 through a slot machine and earn 100 credits, worth $1. For every $10 played on a video poker machine, players earn one Reward Credit and one Tier Credit. It takes longer to earn credits at video poker because the payout ratio is higher. Some machines are not worth as much, but those are clearly marked, according to the casino.

How to Get More Comps

Remember to put your player’s card in the machine or hand it to the dealer, but not every time you’re in the casino. When you don’t plan to gamble long or invest much money, leave your card in your wallet. Here’s why: put $500 into play over five hours on Saturday, then blow off $50 before your flight on Sunday and you’ll ruin your good rating. Go ahead and play on Sunday, just don’t use your player’s card.

It may not be what you had planned, but you’ll earn more comps by depleting your entire gambling budget in one day at the same casino. Gambling $600 during the same day will earn you a much higher rating and more free stuff than betting $200 in chips each day for three days.

Back-End Comps

Hotel and casino guests who gamble a lot can request comps, and sometimes they will be granted. Charge everything to your room, and before checkout, please contact a casino host or speak to the person behind the rewards desk. Ask them to review your play and see if they can remove any of your charges.

Always Take Advantage of Promotions

From time to time, Caesars Rewards offers multipliers, giving guests bonus credits for every dollar spent. In late December 2021, a 5x Tier Credit multiplier event meant anyone lucky enough to be at a Caesars property could rack up Tier credits at record speed. The extra credits aren’t applied automatically. Make sure to register for all promotions.

Use a Casino Host

Think of your casino host as a concierge at a hotel.  A host will remember the things that you like and get you good comps. Big betters are often pursued by casino hosts. If that hasn’t happened, a player can ask the rewards desk to check his play to see if he qualifies for one.

Line of Credit

Most large casinos, including Planet Hollywood Las Vegas, allow players to apply for a line of credit. This gives a player the freedom to gamble without carrying cash or being burdened by the constraints of daily ATM limits and fees. The minimum amount that can be requested is $2500. The application is on the resorts’ website. If approved, the casino gives you a marker that can be traded to the dealer for chips. Typically, a player has 30 days to pay off a marker, but the casino prefers you settle up before check-out.

Slots

Now that you’re ready to earn rewards, you can venture onto the casino floor where temptation awaits. Planet Hollywood Las Vegas has more than 950 one-arm bandits, and if you’re very lucky, one spin of the reels can make you rich. It’s a mix of video slots and traditional reel machines. You’ll find favorites like Wheel of Fortune, Megabucks and Buffalo.

Video Poker

Choose from hundreds of video poker machines including All-Star Poker, Game King and Ultimate Aces. You’re dealt five cards. Choose which ones to keep and press the hold buttons, then spin the reels to draw a new hand.

There is only one mathematically correct way to play any hand in video poker. The answers are on video poker strategy charts available online and in casino gift shops. Practice at home with one of the many software programs available, then consult the charts while you play.

Blackjack

a blackjack table in a casino

Planet Hollywood offers one 2 deck game with a $50 minimum bet and six 8 deck games with a $15 minimum. The odds are 3:2, dealer hits on 17 and players can double after a split.

The way to win at blackjack is to come closer to 21 than the dealer without busting. A set of rules, called basic strategy, reduces the casino’s edge to .05% when followed perfectly. Draw a 16 for a starting hand, and you may not like hitting, but when the dealers’ up card is a 7 or 8, basic strategy says to hit. When the table doesn’t allow surrender, hit on a 10 – ace as well. Basic strategy charts are available online and at casino gift shops, and it’s okay to use them at the table as long as you don’t slow down the game.

Card counters gain an edge over the house by keeping track of how many high cards—10 – ace—and how many low cards [2 -6] are left in the deck. When there are more high cards left, the counter starts to raise his bets, and may play more than one hand at a time. When there are more low cards left, the counter places the minimum bet or leaves the table.

Roulette

Colorful casino floor inside the Planet Hollywood Las Vegas Resort & Casino

The casino floor at Planet Hollywood features eight Double Zero Roulette tables and two Triple Zero tables with $15 to $50 minimums. A standard wheel has pockets numbered one to 36 and two more for Zero and Double Zero. The best odds for the player are at a double-zero table because there is one fewer pocket than in Triple Zero.

The biggest payday comes when you bet on one number and hit. This is called a straight bet, and the casino pays 35:1. So if you bet $1 and win, you’ll get your dollar back plus $35. Some of the other most popular bets include the split bet. Place a chip on the line that splits two numbers and if either number hits you’re paid 17:1. A corner bet happens when you put a chip on a line that splits four numbers and pays 8:1.

Craps

Look in the direction of the craps table and the party atmosphere may surprise or even intimidate you. Once you learn the game, it’s likely you’ll be out there enjoying life as you roll the dice and cheer with the lively crowd. The casino has five craps tables with betting minimums of $15 and $50.

The players at the table take turns rolling the dice, and everyone has the option to bet with or against the shooter. Most people bet with the shooter called a Pass Line bet. Wagering against the shooter is a Don’t Pass bet.

Baccarat

Planet Hollywood has two Mini and two Midi Baccarat tables. Baccarat is the easiest game in the casino because there is nothing to know. Before the cards are dealt, the gambler places a bet on the player or the banker to have the best hand or bets on a tie. That’s it.

The goal of the game is to come closest to a total of nine. If either player or banker is dealt a nine or an eight, he wins and the hand is over. If the totals are both nine or eight, it’s a tie. For any other total, the dealer consults the rule book. The best odds are to bet on the banker, and the worst by far is to go for a tie.

Pai Gow Poker

via Adobe Stock

Unlike traditional poker, a player is dealt seven cards in Pai Gow Poker. The goal is to make two hands, one of five cards and one of two. Beat the dealer’s two hands and win. Holding one superior hand? It’s a push. When the dealer has two hands that beat yours, you lose the round. The Pai Gow deck includes a joker that can be used as an ace or to complete a flush or a straight.

Your five-card hand must beat your two-card hand. The hand rankings are the same as in hold ’em with two exceptions. A wheel [ace – five straight] is the second-highest straight in Pai Gow, only behind 10 – ace. A wheel is the lowest straight in traditional poker, and five of a kind doesn’t exist. In Pai Gow Poker, four aces and a joker give a player five of a kind which replaces a royal flush as the highest-ranking hand in the game.

Let it Ride

The unusual thing about this poker variant is the gambler is not trying to beat the dealer or the other players in the game. Only his hand matters. To initiate play, place three equal bets then each player is dealt three cards. Face down on the felt are two community cards that are there to help any player improve the strength of his hand.

Once you look at your hand, tuck your cards under your first bet. If you like what you see, Let it Ride. Not thrilled with what you’ve been dealt? Scratch the cards on the table to signal the dealer that you want to Pull Back your first bet. Next, the first community card is shown and again the player has the choice to Let it Ride or Pull Back his second bet, but the third bet always remains on the table.

After the dealer reveals the second community card, he will turn over all the players’ hands and identify winners. Payouts are based on hand rankings, from 1:1 for a pair of 10’s or better to 1000:1 for a Royal Flush. Anything less than a pair of tens and you lose the hand.

Three Card Poker

In Hold’em, it takes five cards to complete a flush or a straight, but in Three Card Poker, it comes as no surprise that it only requires three. What’s a bit more puzzling to traditional poker players is that a straight outranks a flush.

hand of three card poker

Begin playing by betting the ante—the bottom triangle on the table. You and the dealer each get three cards. Look at yours, and if you want to continue, put an equal bet on the play—circle below the triangle—and place your cards face down under your chips.

Want to fold? Put your cards face down in front of your first wager. Don’t be too quick to let go of your cards because you only have to beat the dealer, so King high is too good to fold. The dealer reveals his cards, and if he doesn’t have queen high or better, the player wins his ante bet only. At showdown, whoever has the better hand wins, and the player is paid even money.

Sportsbook

Bet on football, basketball, baseball, hockey and more at the Race & Sportsbook at Planet Hollywood Las Vegas. Place bets on your favorite college or pro teams and watch the game live or catch the highlights. The sportsbook has a bar, racebook and 55 plasma TVs.

High-Limit Gaming

The small High-Limit Gaming room at Planet Hollywood provides a quiet, intimate place to play when you’re betting $100 to $10,000 a hand. The room has five blackjack and two baccarat tables.
