Located on the Las Vegas Strip, Vdara Las Vegas was the first of many projects to be completed as part of the $8.5 billion CityCenter complex.

Just like ARIA, Vdara was a joint venture between MGM Resorts International and Infinity World Development. The opening of Vdara on December 1, 2009 was followed by the unveiling of The Shops at Crystals, Mandarin Oriental—which is now known as Waldorf Astoria—and ARIA, which all debuted in the same month.

Vdara was designed by Rafael Viñoly of RV Architecture, LLC. Because of its sustainable design, the eco-friendly hotel achieved a LEED® Gold certification by the U.S. Green Building Council. Other design highlights include Nancy Rubins’ Big Edge sculpture, situated at the entrance of the hotel.

Within the non-gaming, non-smoking award-wining, there are 1,495 suites, a full-service wellness spa, dining options, a pool area with cabanas and 16,500 square feet of space for meetings and events.

In September 2021, MGM Resorts International closed on a sale-leaseback deal with Blackstone Group, which acquired Vdara and ARIA for $3.89 billion.
