Use These 12 Companies for Car Rental on the Strip

By Rob Kachelriess

The Las Vegas Strip was designed with pedestrians in mind. But you may want to rent a car for added comfort and convenience — plus it makes it easy to travel away from the tourist corridor to Downtown, Summerlin, Boulder City and even natural wonders like Red Rock Canyon and Lake Mead.

Car rentals are in tight supply as we emerge from the pandemic, so book a reservation early. Here are your best options for where to find a car rental on the Strip.

Car Rental On The Strip

1. McCarran Rent-A-Car Center

McCarran rent-a-car center front entrances to host counters

Las Vegas has one of the most convenient international airports in the world with a runway that pushes up to Las Vegas Boulevard. The McCarran Rent-A-Car Center is actually off-site from the airport proper in a separate facility that hosts counters for 10 leading rental services: Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National, Payless, Sixt and Thrifty.

Shuttles come and go frequently from both airport terminals and short-term parking is easy and convenient for those getting picked up or dropped off by a friend or family member.

Bonus: book a private airport roundtrip transfer for premium transportation service.

2. Diplomat Exotic Rentals

Sometimes you want something more than four wheels and an engine. Diplomat Exotic Rentals has a wide range of luxury sports cars with brands like McLaren, Ferrari and Corvette well represented. Rent one for the length of your stay or take one for a joyride down the Strip for as short as an hour. Just remember to watch the speed limit. Diplomat is at the Sahara casino, where parking is free.

SAHARA Las Vegas (from USD $86.23 )

The newly-rebranded SAHARA is here to stay, and the upgraded property maintains a charming aesthetic that demands to be visited.

Here’s another option for luxury on wheels. Royalty Exotic Cars has more than 75 cars, SUVs and motorcycles to choose from. Go upscale with a Lamborghini, Rolls Royce, Porsche or a host of additional head-turning choices. There’s also a selection of autocycles (three-wheeled cars) for something quirky and fun. Royalty Exotic Cars is located just west of the Strip near Harmon and Dean Martin. Score a free helicopter ride as a bonus with a 24-hour rental. Inquire for terms and conditions.

4. Turo

Why track down a rental service when you can let the car come to you?

Turo is often described as an Airbnb for cars, allowing owners to directly rent their vehicles as little or as often as they like. It’s also a win for customers who value flexibility, convenience and availability. Sometimes you don’t even need to interact with the owner, thanks to a remote unlocking system. Always wondered what it’s like to drive a Tesla? Now’s your chance.

5. LVC Exotic Rentals

It may not be the only luxury car business in town, but LVC Exotic Rentals promises to match or beat the price of its Las Vegas competitors. Whether it’s a Lamborghini or a Mustang, the company has a colorful fleet of cars at the Gold Key Shops near the Peppermill and Tacos El Gordo.

6. Hog Car Tours

Here’s something different. Hog Car Tours is a series of experiences in which participants drive their own “hog car” — a bright pink mini three-wheeler. Choose between a food tasting tour, a nighttime lights tour or an Old Vegas/mobster tour. The concept was founded by former UFC fighter Roy “Big Country” Nelson.

7. Las Vegas Rock Crawlers

Ready to go off-roading? Las Vegas Rock Crawlers is a unique jeep experience with vehicles specially designed to tackle a wide variety of challenging terrain. The best part? You’re the one behind the wheel. Tours are as close as Red Rock Canyon or as far away as Sand Hollow State Park in Southern Utah. Think of it as hiking, but with a jeep. The company is just west of the Strip, but has shuttles to pick up passengers from Strip hotels.
