About the Pro Bowl Games in Las Vegas 2023

The National Football League (NFL) hosts this exhibition game series to honor the all-star players of the previous season. The series of events will be presented in an exciting new format for the same flag football games that pigskin fans know and love, alongside some rousing skills challenges.

Eight skills events will take place on Thursday, February 2, and Sunday, February 5. Two teams will show off player skills, featuring 44 hand-picked participants for a fierce AFC-NFC competition.

Selections are broken down into 21 members for AFC defense and NFC defense, AFC offense, and NFC offense and specialists. This year, a legendary coach pairing will command the field. Brothers Eli Manning and Peyton Manning are the acting head coaches for the two teams.

Epic Pro Bowl Dodgeball: No Average Joes in this lineup. Four teams of five players broken down by offensive and defensive positions will square off to toss balls across a connecting line to knock each other out of the game. The NFC winner and AFC winner square off for the final round.

Lightning Round: This three-part elimination challenge involves all 16 players tossing water balloons across ever-growing distances for some splash catch fun. For the second game, players catch punts shot from a machine to make it to the last round. For the final Lightning Round, according to the NFL website, “the remaining players from each conference will aim at targets attached to a bucket hanging above the head of an opposing conference’s coach.”

The first team to pour a bucket of water on the opposing coach wins.

Longest Drive: True to the name, four players compete to hit a golf ball the farthest distance within the fairway in a set number of strokes.

Precision Passing: This “one-minute accuracy competition” has two quarterbacks and one other player throwing footballs to hit as many targets as they can. Don’t worry — that last throw is a bonus toss that the rules allow.

Best Catch Competition part 1: Two teammate pairings will exhibit their respective skills “in highlight reels shot at iconic venues around Las Vegas,” according to the NFL events description. Viewers vote online to send advancing players to the last round on Sunday.

Sunday, February 5

Best Catch Final Round: Beyond showing up for the turnout of celebrity judges, check out the group of players that the public voted as their favorite catch reps.

Gridiron Gauntlet: This is the relay race of the year. The four sections include some over-under running, climbing breakaway walls a tire run and pushing a blocking sled carrying a coach.

Move The Chains: Four teams compete in a weighted wall pull using first down chains, to travel 10 yards as quickly as possible.

Kick Tac Toe: One punter, kicker, and long snapper compete from each team. Each player’s objective is to hit three squares in a line — or five, for a majority win.

The Final Games

To end an epic weekend, the AFC and NFC competition culminates with three flag football games to seal the deal with a 24-point lead.
