An emoticon guide to Las Vegas’ top headlines—turkey dinner, not included

It’s not forever, it’s just an interruption in action.

The City Shines But the Team Fumbles

🏈 🧚 👋🏾 Las Vegas has been waiting all season for its Raiders to debut on NBC’s Sunday Night Football. The biggest game of the week offers the biggest stage for the city to shine. And shine it did, with an introduction from Absinthe’s “The Gazillionaire” and beautiful aerial coverage of The Strip. John Katsilometes in the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that Absinthe remains a lone bright spot on the Strip, as many shows continue to struggle.

On the field, the Raiders lived up to the hype until about the 2-minute mark, when the defense went home early and Patrick Mahomes led the Chiefs to a game-winning touchdown drive. We’re not kidding about the Raiders defense, either. Somebody put out a missing person’s report.

Just Hit Pause

😷 👩🏽‍⚕️ 🦃 The Nevada Independent sums up Gov. Steve Sisolak’s announcement of the “statewide pause” that rolls back customer capacity limits to 25 percent for casinos, restaurants, and bars; as well as a “reservations required” policy and no walk-ins. The reservations rule will force many businesses that rely on walk-ins to quickly pivot to a new system. Like state leaders around the country, Sisolak is in a no-win situation fighting the coronavirus pandemic. With little-to-no guidance from the federal government or the president, states are forced to go it alone.

Sign, Sealed and Certified, Biden’s Ours

🗳️ 🇺🇸 👨🏿‍⚖️ CNN says on Tuesday, the Nevada Supreme Court certified its 2020 election results with president-elect Joe Biden as the winner of six electoral votes. Nevada Secretary of State Barbara Cegavske, a Republican, “did not verbally acknowledge Biden the winner of the presidential race. The Nevada Supreme Court signed the canvassing for each county prior to official certification of the results. States are scheduled to certify their results by December 8, ahead of the Electoral College meeting on December 14.”

Buy LV, NV

What’s Next for Nightlife?

🔮 🍾 🔑 That’s the million-dollar question right now as Resorts World Las Vegas unveils its plans for Zouk Nightclub, FUHU Restaurant, RedTail Bar and AYU Dayclub to open in 2021. Billboard talks to industry veteran Ronn Nicolli about his new role as vice president of marketing for Zouk Group and vice president of lifestyle marketing for Resorts World Las Vegas. The future looks bright “”We will not be offering a single type of entertainment. We won’t identify ourselves as a DJ club or a hip-hop club,” he says. “We have so much technology and audio/visual production that we can create a different immersive experience each night.” We know who will be first in line. 🙋‍♀️ 🙋🏻

Brioche Makes it Better

🥖 ☕🇫🇷 What do we recommend when the chips are down and the whole world just seems off? Go 3 for $13 on Guy Savoy brioche. The pillowy French pastry fresh from the kitchen of the lauded chef has the power to change lives and Paris Las Vegas knows that’s exactly what we need right now—opening another outlet of popular quick-serve café Brioche by Guy Savoy. Eater Las Vegas editor Susan Stapleton writes, “the specialty here, the brioche, comes in variations that can come stuffed with mushrooms, Parmesan, and nuts, or sweet candied fruit and Nutella. The newest location sits next to the Paris Las Vegas hotel lobby and offers just a taste of Savoy’s flaky French pastries at an affordable price.” 👨‍🍳
