Since the hotel opened in 2003, the goals of the resort have been convenience, comfort, carefree and captivating environments. Year after year, those goals have been met, and exceeded.

The History of Delano

Mandalay Resort Group built a 43-story tower that featured 1,117 guest suites. Connected to the Mandalay Bay Resort, the doors of THEhotel at Mandalay Bay opened in December 2003. The hotel opening allowed guests to stay in standard suites measuring at 725 square feet, the largest in Vegas at the time.

A new restaurant and lounge, Mix, opened on the 43rd floor in late 2004. There was seating for 240 guests who were able to view the Strip through the floor-to-ceiling windows. The lounge featured an outdoor patio. This same year, the Bathhouse Spa was opened.

In 2006, the name was shortened to simply THEhotel to help the tower be its own property. Perceived as another hotel at Mandalay Bay, president and COO Chuck Bowling wanted Delano was to evoke its “own spirit, own energy.”

The following decade set Delano apart in its own rite. In 2011 the property became one of the very first hotels on the Strip to allow dogs in the suites. In 2012, THEhotel was rebranded into today’s Delano Las Vegas. All suites were redesigned, while new bars, nightclubs, lounges and restaurants were incorporated. TheHotel signs were removed in June 2014 and new signs for the new name went up two months later. A groundbreaking ceremony for Delano was held in September of 2014. Actress Jaime King and Charlotte Ronson attended the grand opening party and DJ Samantha Ronson kept the music spinning. There was also a performance by Magic.

During the same year, Delia’s Kitchen opened, providing a maximum capacity of 140 guests. A greenhouse was built to provide fresh herbs for the menu, while the 3940 Coffee bar was opened in the lobby. The penthouses were the last for a facelift, which was completed around October 2014.

2015 saw the opening of the Delano Beach Club. Comprised of 16 cabanas and poolside amenities such as free food and drink, and onsite DJS twice a week, the beach club was also available for non-guests who rented a cabana.

The end of the rebranding process occurred during the winter of 2015. Mix Restaurant was replaced with Rivea Restaurant and Skyfall Lounge. Delano was now its own entity, no longer to be mistaken as the hotel at Mandalay Bay.

The result of the rebranding allows guests to be surrounded by “gold level” treatment. As the outer walls of the building display, gold is the standard at the Delano. A golden hue outer appearance leads to equally bright and welcoming interiors. The casual yet inviting atmosphere welcomes guests to a stay filled with luxury beds, spa-inspired bathrooms and breathtaking views.

Personalized service awaits all guests. For an elevated stay, add the Delano Butler Experience and let someone else take care of all the details. Make the concierge your go-to secret weapon. Large, aerial views of the Strip reside within the Delano Strip View Suites while the Stay Well Delano Scenic Suite and the Delano Scenic Suite provide all-encompassing views of the Las Vegas Strip.

Other suite options include one-bedroom and two-bedroom king suites, two queen bed suites, and the Stay Well Delano Suites in both King and queen beds. Views are plentiful, with choices ranging between the Strip, pool or mountain views.

Butler Service

Additional fee-based amenities are also available for the guests staying in certain rooms. The Butler Service Experience can be added to the penthouse suites and lofts.

Adding on butler services includes a large variety of amenities, ranging from priority dinner reservations, VIP Lounge access, complimentary luxury arrival & departure transportation. For those bringing the family dog, walking and feeding pet service is also an amenity.

There are pet-friendly suites available that include a menu just for your four-legged friend. Additional premium services include a hired dog walker or the responsible sitting service offered by the hotel.

It is an exclusive pool club just for resort guests and features whimsical inclusions such as a submerged chess board, a variety of signature cocktails and plenty of cabanas and chaise lounges. The cabanas have tons of amenities including personal safes, poolside Wi-Fi, towel service, pool inner tubes, couch, music docking station, a fridge and a TV along with a handful of lounge chairs.

Order poolside from Delano Bites and cool off with a spirit from their beer and wine list. Take in a seasonal fruit bowl, garlic hummus or a smoothie bowl. For something a bit more savory, try the pulled pork sliders, the guacamole or buffalo chicken dip.

Let the air conditioning help you beat the heat while watching one of the five televisions located throughout the bungalow. A drink or two from the wet bar can help calm the summer heat as well.

The Villas have a fantastic view of Moorea as well as the Mandalay Bay Beach. There are cushioned chairs and side tables, three padded lounging chairs and a television, as well as ceiling fans and poolside Wi-Fi access. This area is open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
