Arcadia Earth Las Vegas: Inspiring and Educational

We hear conversations around climate change and the Earth all the time in the news and media. It’s not often that our impact is brought to life through examples that are both beautiful and shocking in nature. Arcadia Earth Las Vegas achieves this mode of message with exhibits that challenge the understanding of pollution and how it affects the Earth—and what we can do to help.

Arcadia Earth is one of the many immersive exhibits in Las Vegas. For more interactive enjoyment, check out our articles about the Van Gogh exhibit and AREA15 located off the Strip.

Arcadia Earth is a cutting-edge immersive exhibit with a philanthropic mission: to “inform, inspire and activate our community to positively impact our planet.” This is the second location of the exhibit, the first being in New York City. In recent years, pop-ups made appearances in Miami, Florida and Terra x Ithra, Saudi Arabia. It covers 15,000 square feet, like its sister location in New York.

The artistic visionary behind Arcadia Earth is experiential artist Valentino Vettori. He started the Arcadia Earth concept in 2017, and his work is focused on bringing awareness to the state of the Earth’s current environmental plights. Arcadia translates from Greek to mean “in harmony with nature,” which is brought to life through the high-tech features placed throughout the exhibit. Each feature is symbolic and backed by facts and figures to support the severity of the displays and their content.

The Exhibit

Each room is dedicated to highlighting different environmental issues that are currently affecting our world. Deforestation, food waste and plastic use are just a few of the issues touched on, as well as the endangerment of animal species.

The mediums are upcycled materials that were collected and repurposed for the displays. Guests can look at book pages, plastic bags, ocean debris and more as they learn about the staggering stats about how human beings overuse these resources.

The App and Technology

Arcadia Earth uses augmented reality (AR) technology to add another layer of immersion to the experience. Guests are welcome to download the AR-friendly app for iOS and Android to use throughout the exhibit. Special graphics are stationed on the walls and floor of the exhibit. When scanned, virtual wildlife and sea creatures flood your phone screen, moving with the camera as the exhibit is filmed. Save the video for later by tapping the Record icon. For those without smartphones, iPads can be provided.

Don’t forget the virtual reality (VR) headsets. A 360-degree view of varied terrains filled with wildlife are on display in each headset, and no two goggles show the same scene at the same time.
